We invite you to experience the official launch of Upside-Down Garden, a major new public artwork by celebrated artist Jumaadi.

Positioned within the open atrium beneath International House, this striking 12-metre installation reimagines the natural world through inversion, symbolism and storytelling. Suspended overhead like a garden turned inside out, the work brings together botanical, archetypal and mythological elements to shift how we perceive nature, place and memory.
Blending light, shadow, texture and sound, Upside-Down Garden invites visitors to pause and consider the delicate balance between human and natural worlds. The work reflects Jumaadi’s ongoing exploration of duality and connection, drawing on themes that span time, culture and human experience.
As you move through one of Barangaroo’s busiest walkways, this dreamlike canopy offers a moment of contemplation and quiet wonder, transforming a familiar public space into a landscape of imagination and reflection.
About Jumaadi
Jumaadi studied at the National Art School in Sydney, completing both a Bachelor and Master of Fine Art. His multidisciplinary practice spans large-scale installations, hand-tooled buffalo hide works and paintings infused with spiritual, historical and mythical symbolism. Through these forms, he reinterprets stories of place, identity and belonging, bringing new layers of meaning to the spaces we inhabit.
