One Sydney Harbour Residential Tower - Hours of Works
The One Sydney Harbour basement continues to progress well. The first residential tower will soon commence construction, marking a major milestone for the project.
From Monday 1 June 2020, the approved hours of works for the tower construction are:
• Monday to Friday between 7am until 7pm • Saturdays between 7am until 5pm
These working hours are for the construction of the residential tower only. Any existing Development Agreement hours will continue to be in place for other elements of the Barangaroo project.
Approval for Sunday Works
The NSW Government has provided special permissions to the general building industry to work extended hours across weekends and public holidays throughout the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The extended hours of work will make it easier for the building industry to practice appropriate social distancing with fewer workers on site on any given day by allowing work to be spread across more days in the week. This also allows for jobs to be retained during this difficult time. Sunday works on the One Sydney Harbour construction site are approved to take place between 7am and 5pm. For Sunday works, limitations will be in place and rock breaking, rock hammering, sheet piling or pile driving will not be undertaken. All mitigation measures will continue to be in place for the construction site.
Tower Crane Removal and Installation – Sunday Works
Work will soon commence to remove one tower crane currently used for basement works and to install one tower crane which will be used for the construction of the first residential tower. To reduce impact on the local community where possible, these works have been scheduled to take place over two weekends.
The majority of the demobilisation and construction of the cranes will occur during normal working hours. However, some of the final components of works, including lifting the boom of the crane into its final position, must occur when the site is clear of all other workers.
As per the approval noted above, works are expected to take place on:
• Saturday 30 May 2020 between 7am and 5pm • Sunday 31 May 2020 between 8am until 5pm • Saturday 13 June 2020 between 7am and 5pm • Sunday 14 June 2020 between 8am and 5pm
All reasonable mitigation measures will be implemented to reduce any impacts associated with this work.
Road Closure – Barangaroo Avenue and Watermans Quay
Pending final approval, Barangaroo Avenue and Watermans Quay will be closed to vehicular traffic on:
Closure One:
• Thursday 28 May 2020 and Friday 29 May 2020 between 7am until 6pm • Saturday 30 May 2020 between 7am until 5pm • Sunday 31 May 2020 between 8am until 5pm
Closure Two:
• Thursday 11 June 2020 and Friday 12 June 2020 between 7am until 6pm • Saturday 13 June 2020 between 7am until 5pm • Sunday 14 June 2020 between 8am until 5pm
This is to allow for the safe delivery and transportation of crane components to the construction gate on the corner of Watermans Quay and Barangaroo Avenue. Pedestrian access around the precinct will remain as normal.
Traffic controllers will be in place to safely direct pedestrians and road users and detour signage, directing traffic to Hickson Road, will be in place. Access to the basement will remain available, under traffic control, from both Watermans Quay and Barangaroo Avenue.
Contingency Dates
If the works are unable to be undertaken or completed as above, the crane works and associated road closures are expected to take place on Saturday 20 June and Sunday 21 June 2020. The road closures will also be in place on the Thursday and Friday leading up to the works.
Delivery
In accordance with Roads and Maritime Services restrictions for oversized loads, some oversized loads need to be delivered in the early hours of the morning to ensure they are off the road by 5am. These oversized loads will arrive throughout the week leading up to Sunday 31 May 2020. Please note that the deliveries will not be unloaded from the trucks until normal working hours commence.
