Sydney's newest foreshore
Barangaroo Reserve is Sydney’s newest Harbour foreshore park. The new six-hectare headland has been designed to echo the pre-1836 shoreline of Sydney Harbour, and includes lookouts, extensive walking and cycling trails, coves, and picnic areas.
A short, 900m walk from International Towers, Barangaroo Reserve features more than 75,000 native trees and shrubs – one of the largest and most scientifically significant planting programs in central Sydney for decades – replicates the local vegetation before European settlement.
Innovative, industry-first technology was central to transforming the concrete container terminal into the picturesque parkland, particularly in the creation of The Cutaway – a new cultural centre located beneath the park, and one of the largest internal spaces in the country.
