International Towers and Banish: Partnering since 2023 for sustainable practices

BRAD pools small, tricky items so they can be recycled at scale.

Only 4% of plastic ever produced has been recycled. At International Towers, we are working to change that by making recycling accessible and impactful for our community.

Since 2023, we have partnered with Banish, founded by sustainability advocate Lottie Dalziel (NSW Young Australian of the Year 2023, Forbes 30 Under 30).

In 2024, we introduced the Banish Recycling and Disposal (BRAD) Program in our Tower Two and Tower Three lobbies.

The BRAD bins allow tenants and visitors to recycle hard-to-process items such as:

  • Toothpaste tubes and dental products
  • Beauty containers and pumps
  • Stationery like pens and markers
  • Bottle lids, coffee capsules, and more

Tenant Partners Impact So Far

Between February and July 2025, our towers have already achieved:

  • Tower Two: 32,856 recyclable items collected (13.2 kg beauty, 6.9 kg specialty, 12.7 kg household)
  • Tower Three: 38,807 recyclable items collected (15.7 kg beauty, 3.1 kg specialty, 19.8 kg household)

That’s 71,663g of recyclables and 18,385 items saved from landfill in just a few months.

What Happens to the Items You Recycle?

Everything collected through BRAD is processed onshore in Australia. Here’s where it all goes:

• Metal coffee capsules → Nespresso Recycling Program
Blister packs & Webster packs → Pharmacycle
Bottle top lids → recycled in house
Soy sauce fishies → recycled in house
• Contact lenses → Opticycle
Skincare & toothpaste tubes → Valera
Plastic bread tags & #5 Polypropylene → Transmutation
HDPE/LDPE plastics (#1, #2, #4) →Valera
Beer clips → Local breweries and processed in-house
Mixed beauty products → Valera + partners
Reading & sunglasses → Opticycle
Straws & cutlery → Valera

This closed-loop system ensures nothing goes offshore and that every effort is made to recycle responsibly.

Why It Matters

By working with BRAD, we are not just recycling, we are reducing waste, supporting the circular economy, and giving our community the tools to make a difference every day.

By partnering with Banish since 2023, we have been helping tenant partners and visitors turn small daily actions into meaningful environmental impact.
