A look to the future with Cesar Ramirez, new Head of Partnerships.

Join us in welcoming Cesar Ramirez, our new Head of Partnerships.

Two weeks into his sole tenure as Head of Partnerships at International Towers, Cesar Ramirez is already flourishing in a role with innate high expectations and a strong legacy.

Having worked closely with the precinct for over a decade, first as a tenant partner, then as a collaborator, and now as our second Head of Partnerships, Cesar brings a rare perspective shaped by experiences on every side of the community.

Supported by the experienced Partnerships team behind him, many of whom have worked here for years, Cesar steps into the role backed by deep capability, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to continuity and excellence.

Cesar reflected on his journey to the role, what makes the International Towers family special, and how he plans to carry forward the legacy of his predecessor, Malcolm Nixon, while evolving our services to fit the future ahead.

“It feels like coming home”

For Cesar, this is not a new environment, it’s a very familiar one.

“I’ve known International Towers since the very beginning,” he says. “I was working across the road when Barangaroo was being built, and I watched the precinct come to life from the ground up.”

That connection deepened when he joined one of the precinct’s founding tenant organisations, giving him firsthand insight into the tenant experience.

“I was on the other side of the table,” he explains. “I understood what it meant to be a tenant partner, what you need, what you expect, and how important those relationships are.”

After several years in corporate hospitality, Cesar went on to establish his own events and staffing agency, a venture that would ultimately reconnect him with International Towers in a new way.

“Over the years, Malcolm would bring me in to support events and activities,” he says. “We kept that relationship going, there was always a strong sense of mutual respect.”

That long-standing connection led to an unexpected turning point earlier this year.

“It started with a simple catch-up,” Cesar recalls. “I reached out to Malcolm thinking he might know someone who needed my services. Instead, he asked me to come in for a chat.”

What followed was a series of meetings that quickly evolved into something exciting.

“I didn’t even realise what the opportunity was at first,” he says. “When it became clear, it was a surprise, in the best possible way.”

Despite other opportunities in front of him, Cesar’s decision was instinctive.

“This was always the one I wanted,” he says with a smile. “Barangaroo feels like home to me. I’ve seen it grow, I understand it, and I care about what it represents.”

A career built on hospitality & connection
Cesar brings more than two decades of experience across hospitality, events, and corporate environments, including time with global hotel brands and multinational organisations.

“I’ve spent around 22 years in hospitality and events,” he says. “From five-star hotels to huge corporate activity, to running my own business, I’ve seen every side of it.”

And that breadth of experience shapes how Cesar approaches his new role.

“At its core, this job is about people,” he explains. “It’s about building real relationships, partnerships, and understanding how to create meaningful experiences.”

While the scale and setting may differ from large commercial events, Cesar sees a deeper level of impact in what International Towers delivers.

“International Towers experiences are incredibly meaningful. Connecting people, supporting communities, and creating real value. Sustainability, social impact, health and wellbeing, partnerships. These aren’t just ideas here, they’re actions.”

Learning with a lasting legacy
Stepping into Malcolm’s role brings an immediate recognition of the standards that have been set.

“Malcolm is an institution here,” Cesar says. “What he’s built, the relationships, the trust, that doesn’t happen by accident. His generosity of spirit stands out. Everything he does comes from a genuine place. He wants people to have the best possible experience.”

Cesar is focused on carrying that dedication forward.

“I’m naturally aligned with that way of thinking,” he explains. “I care about people, I care about outcomes, and I love to work collaboratively to achieve them.”

At the same time, he recognises that his approach will bring its own perspective.

“Malcolm and I are different people, from different backgrounds,” Cesar says. “But the values, the honesty, the care, the commitment, those are things I will absolutely continue.”

A future in safe hands
With any transition, questions about change are inevitable, particularly in a role as visible and influential as this one.

Cesar gives a simple but powerful reassurance.

“If you know Malcolm, you know he would only leave this role in the safest of hands, he’s someone who always does the right thing. Obviously, he would make sure this transition was flawless,” says Cesar with another smile.

“And of course the same team that supported Malcolm so brilliantly for years will continue to do their wonderful work with me looking after our tenant partners. I feel supported from day one by an incredible team who have been instrumental in building what International Towers is today,” he adds. “There’s deep knowledge, strong relationships, and a genuine passion for what we do. That continuity gives me great confidence in what we can achieve together.”

Cesar points to the significant induction and transition period as testament to the team’s dedication to getting this change right.

“I’ve never experienced a handover like this; I’ve worked together with everyone here for more than two months. It’s been incredibly thorough, there’s been so much care put into ensuring this changeover is easy and enjoyable for everyone.”

“There’s always going to be a sense of responsibility when you follow someone like Malcolm,” says Cesar. “I shoulder that responsibility with pride, and I’m really looking forward to the huge opportunity we have to continue to strengthen the precinct community, deepen partnerships, and develop exceptional experiences that resonate with everyone who works here with us.”
